Terminó la hegemonía de 10 años de Cristiano Ronaldo y Lionel Messi en el Balón de Oro tras la premiación al jugador del Real Madrid, Luka Modric como ganador en este 2018 en gala que se celebró este lunes en el Grand Palais de París.
Modric guio a su selección, Croacia, a la final del Mundial de Rusia 2018, en donde perdieron contra Francia. Al recibir su premio, el mediocampista agradeció a sus compañeros en la selección y de su club, además de entrenadores y a su familia.
“Cuando se es niño, tienes sueños y los míos eran ganar títulos”, dijo Modric. “Este Balón de Oro es todo lo que yo podía soñar. Algo extraordinario he tenido que hacer en este 2018, el año de todos mis sueños… todo por el trabajo, la persistencia y creer en uno mismo”.
El jugador Merengue superó a su excompañero en el Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo, y al francés del Atlético de Madrid, Antoine Griezmann.
“Ser el mejor nunca es fácil”, reiteró. “Para mí no lo ha sido. He tenido que aprovechar las ocasiones”.
Modric también fue elegido el mejor jugador del Mundial en el verano.
La futbolista noruega Ada Hegerberg, de 23 años y delantera del Lyon, ganó el primer Balón de Oro femenino de la historia de este premio.
Al igual que el Balón de Oro masculino, el premio a Hegerberg, que ganó en 2018 la Champions femenina y la Liga francesa, fue concedido por votación entre un grupo de periodistas internacionales.
