Determinante y letal, Lionel Messi alcanzó la barrera de los 600 goles con el Barcelona al anotar dos veces el miércoles para cargar al club catalán a una victoria 3-0 ante Liverpool en el partido de ida de su semifinal de la Liga de Campeones.

Luis Suárez abrió la cuenta contra su ex club a los 26 minutos. Pero Liverpool desperdició un puñado de inmejorables ocasiones para nivelar durante un tramo al comienzo del segundo tiempo en el que dominó con autoridad.

Luego llegó el turno de Messi para asfixiar el ímpetu de una remontada por los visitantes ingleses.

El astro argentino se encargó de aumentar la ventaja al aprovechar un rebote a 15 minutos del final y luego definió magistralmente de tiro libre — clavando el balón al ángulo — para su tanto 600 con la camiseta del Barça.

Liverpool se floreó durante largos pasajes del encuentro pero no supo jalar el gatillo cuando tuvo a los anfitriones contra las cuerdas, especialmente tras el descanso. Mohamed Salah rozó un valioso gol de visitante para Liverpool cerca del final cuando estrelló un remate en el poste.

Dirigidos por Ernesto Valverde, el Barcelona intenta repetir el triplete de títulos que logró en 2009 con Pep Guardiola y en 2015 bajo Luis Enrique. Sentenció el título de la Liga de España el pasado fin de semana y enfrentará al Valencia en la final de la Copa del Rey el 25 de mayo.

Liverpool intenta repetir en la final de la Champions tras perder 3-1 ante el Real Madrid en la edición del año pasado.

El duelo de ida se jugará en Anfield el próximo martes.
