En un evento de lujo y de manteles largos, se realizó una noche internacional de gala en la Plaza Roja de Moscú, la cual formalmente representó el inicio de las festividades de la Copa del Mundo 2018 en Rusia.

El presidente de Rusia, Vladimir Putin, estuvo en el evento, horas antes de que Rusia debute ante Arabia Saudita en el primer partido del torneo.

Entre los participantes estuvo la cantante Anna Netrebko y el pianista Denis Matsuave, así como el tenor español Placido Domingo y el conductor ruso Valery Gergiev, que dirigió la orquestra Mariinsky.

La ceremonia de apertura de hoy tendrá al cantante británico Robbie Williams.
