Burbank CareWalk slated for next Saturday

Share

Family Service Agency of Burbank will benefit from the ninth annual CareWalk of Burbank 5K Walk next Saturday at Robert E. Gross Park, 2814 W. Empire Ave. Check-in is 7:30 a.m. followed by the walk at 8. Proceeds will go to the agency’s youth counseling programs.

This year, the walk is dedicated to Janice Lowers for her longtime service with the Burbank Police Department as well as her commitment to many nonprofit groups in the community, said Laurie Bleick, executive director of Family Service Agency.

The first time the walk was dedicated to someone was in 2014. That year, the agency honored Jeri Buliavac, a longtime supporter of Family Service Agency, who lost her battle with esophageal cancer later that same year.

Last year, the walk was dedicated to Chris Krohn, and she received the first Jeri Buliavac Care Award.

Lowers was very close friends with Buliavac, Bleick said.

“Janice does just incredible things from her work with the police department to her philanthropic work with Rotary and Salvation Army. It’s the perfect match,” she said.
