Welcoming more than 350 members and supporters of the La Providencia Guild of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to the 67th annual Razzle Dazzle Luncheon and Fashion Show, Veronica Chavoor, the organization’s president, lauded those she represents as a varied group that bloom with a joyous spirit.
“By being here, you are helping us continue our mission of working together, in a variety of ways, to benefit children in need of medical attention and care,” said Chavoor, whose presidential theme is “Helping Hands, Willing Hearts, Giving Hope.”
This year’s event, staged at the Sheraton Universal Hotel under the theme “Picture This” last week and chaired by Tanya Karn, saw a departure from the practice of past years by featuring actual guild members as fashion models instead of catwalk professionals for the day’s main event.
Produced by English fashion designer Christine Ritchie, who co-founded the Yearsley Co., a Laguna Hills-based apparel design house, the show featured the modeling stylings of Dorothy Austin, Michelle Chavoor-Castro, Debbi Lowman, Jeanne Margolin, Lurdes Munoz, Doris Palmer, Donna Salant, Janet Sedhom, Janice Shafer, Malena Tappan and Rosemarie Witten.
Among the distinguished guests in attendance at last week’s event were hospital representatives Bonnie McClure, Suzanne Lapis and Tina Kalayjian, along with La Providencia Guild officers Joan Chandler, Deborah Spang, Lorelei Kelley and Nancy Johnson.
Along with Suzanne Hill’s coordination of the day’s fashion show, other guild members who served on the event committee were Judy Gragg, Kris Veatch, Sue Meckley, Lynn White-Shelby, Mary Fraser, Pat Maskell and Ann Schwab.
Others who assisted in making the fundraiser a success included Karen Barragan, Cindy Birch, Gina Chantland, Janel Clausen, Tycene Davis, Teresa Garcia, Sue Ann Gordon, Alicia Katz, Sandra Kelley, Nancy Korb, Connie Lawless, Leslie Lilly, Ming Liu, Sophia MacIsaac, Vicki Margolin, Irene Matzger, Donna Michel, Linda Muldoon, Shari Pearce, Judy Pierce, Jamie Reeves, Dee-Dee Rowlands, Teri Suarez and Shanna Warren.
The La Providencia Guild of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles has been raising funds to support the pediatric medical facility since 1947.
One of the guild’s major annual fundraisers, the proceeds from last week’s fashion show will assist the organization in its commitment to help fund the hospital’s Associates Rehabilitation Center, Sarcoma Program and Caregiver Wing.
You can help the guild by making donations or purchases at their Burbank thrift shop located at 3301 W. Burbank Blvd.
