Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Burbank) is seeking nominations for the 2016 Woman of the Year awards.

The honor will be presented in March, in recognition of Women’s History Month. Last year, Seda Khojayan of Glendale, Lynn White-Shelby of Burbank and Jean Maluccio of La Crescenta were recognized for their professional work and volunteer efforts in their respective communities.

“Each year, I look forward to receiving nominations for the Woman of the Year Award and learning more about what individuals are doing in the 28th [Congressional] District to improve our community,” Schiff said in a statement. “These women come from all walks of life and represent the thousands of women who make a positive impact in our region.”

Nominees should have demonstrated their dedication to their communities through their work or volunteer efforts. They must be residents of the 28th district, which includes Burbank, Glendale, La Cañada Flintridge, La Crescenta, Montrose, Atwater Village, East Hollywood, Echo Park, Elysian Valley, Griffith Park, Hollywood, Hollywood Hills, Los Feliz, Pasadena, Shadow Hills, Silver Lake, Sunland, Tujunga and West Hollywood.

Nominations should include the nominee’s name, a description of their accomplishments and their contact information — home address, phone number and email address — as well as contact information for the nominator. Specific examples of the nominee’s leadership and philanthropic efforts are encouraged.

Nominations can be sent to mary.hovagimian@mail.house.gov. The deadline is Feb. 15.
