Burbank business woman Sandy Thompson honored

Hollywood Business & Professional Women will honor Sandy Thompson, a lifelong resident of Burbank, with their 2013 Susan B. Anthony Award on Saturday.

The award is given to an outstanding woman who lives the words of Miss Anthony, “Failure is Impossible.” Thompson is president of the California Federation of Business & Professional Women. She volunteers at the library bookstore, is chairwoman of the missions commission at her church, serves on the board of directors of the Burbank Coordinating Council and serves on the board of directors of East San Fernando Valley Family Promise.

She is active in the National Assn. of Parliamentarians. She has been a member of the Burbank BPW club for more than 30 years. Before her retirement she was employed by Amtrak for 35 years, where she held a variety of positions, including being train manager and manager of Union Station.

The public is invited to the luncheon, which is also Hollywood Business & Professional Women’s 92nd anniversary. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 9, at Preston’s at Loew’s Hollywood Hotel. Tickets are $35. Reservations can be made by calling (310) 412-5835 or mjhop6334@aol.com.
