On the Town: Fashion show pays homage to Big Apple

With a tip of their fashionable chapeaus, members of the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center guild paid homage to the city so great they had to name it twice — New York, New York, as they presented their 2013 fashion show and luncheon fundraiser at the Sheraton Universal Hotel this past Saturday.

“After 67 years of service to the medical center, we still like to host a great party,” said guild President Pat Scully as she welcomed more than 400 members, guests and supporters to last week’s event. “We are very proud to support the Hycy and Howard Hill Neuroscience Institute with the proceeds for this, our major fundraiser. The institute, its doctors and staff, are accomplishing wonderful goals and we are happy to be a part of their successes with our $500,000 pledge.”

Along with an invocation by Rev. Msgr. Robert Gallagher and remarks by Michael Rembis, who serves as the medical center’s chief executive, and Patricia Modrzejewski, president of the Providence Health and Services Foundation Valley Regional Office, the assemblage was treated to a presentation of fashions in a show produced by Carin Holmenas and directed by Barbara O’Kane.

Joining the professional catwalkers, last week’s fashion show also showcased the runway modeling talents of local physicians Stephan and Shahan Yacoubian, Daniel Eisenberg, Raul Mena, Robert Feinfield, Stephan Schmones and David Sato, Rex Hoffman and George Teitelbaum.

Emceed by singer Douglas Roegiers, the event was made possible by the event committee comprised of Donna Mahoney, Marion Enos, Grace Patz, Jill Allen, Kathleen Marsden, Roberts Kerr, Maureen Walsh, Maria Balke, Patricia Cassidy, Claire Loughlin, Jackie Van Beveren, Julie McArdle, Erica Mayer, Judy McDowell, Wanda Bistagne, Terry Campbell, Ollie Vick, Janice Khoury, Jo Massimini, Lyne Alburn and Lori Riela.
