Share

Burbank Toastmasters Club 1320, under the leadership of outgoing president Gary Monji, has been recognized as a President’s Distinguished Club for the second consecutive year. Toastmasters District 52 has 105 clubs. Just 21 of them have achieved this designation.

The club was also recognized as being one of the top three clubs for recruiting new members during an award ceremony and officer installation in August at the Castaway restaurant.

Four members obtained Competent Communicator Awards. They were Paul Sutherlin, Sheila Salehian, Patrick Flynn and Medik Ghazikhanian. Those receiving Competent Leadership Awards were Ric Duran and Faith Grillette. Duran, who is the group’s incoming president, is the Leading Burbank Toastmaster this year.

Advanced Communicator Bronze Awards went to outgoing president Monji and Janet Berlin.

Another member recognized was Gene Lipin, who became a Distinguished Toastmaster, the highest honor in the organization, after serving as an area governor this past year. He has been a member since 2005.

Toastmasters International is a nonprofit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills through a worldwide network of clubs. For information on the Burbank club, visit www.burbanktoastmasters.org.
