Community: Noon Lions honor a past president

Share

Past president Brenda Lantieri earned a very special honor in return for her many years of dedication to the Burbank Noon Lions Club. Members gave her the Melvin Jones Fellowship award.

The honor was presented to Lantieri in recognition of years of dedicated service as a Noon Lion.

She served on the board of directors, ran many rides at fundraising carnivals, collected donations in front of local stores for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Days, assisted residents in receiving free eye screenings at health fairs, hosted and served dinners to families at the Los Angeles Ronald McDonald House, and helped with the eye screening of children in local preschools for the club’s newest service project, KidSight Burbank.

But Lantieri went beyond Burbank in her volunteer endeavors. Recycling used eyeglasses, she traveled to remote villages in Mexico to help provide eye care and glasses to those in need as part of “Lions in Sight” free eye clinics in underdeveloped countries.
