Keller Williams employees are again collecting toiletries, snacks, DVDs and books to send to military personnel serving abroad.

Items will be packed for shipping at the third annual “Thank a Soldier Community Barbecue and Care Box Assembly” event from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 2 in the parking lot of Keller Williams Burbank office, 401 S. First St. The event is held in conjunction with Hands Across the Battlefield and many sponsors.

It’s an event for the whole family. Admission is a donation of items to pack in the care boxes, said Barry Gussow, a Realtor with Keller Williams.

“There will be a free barbecue, a jumper for the kids, a photo booth, face painting, multiple bands and many other things for the entire family to enjoy,” he said.

In 2011, the event’s first year, the employees packed and shipped approximately 110 boxes for troops overseas with the help of the city of Burbank. Last year, they planned to ship 300 boxes, but were able to ship more than 470.

“This year, our goal is 1,000 boxes and we intend to hit that plateau,” Gussow said.
