Community: Family Promise changes name

Share

In conjunction with the national Family Promise’s 25th anniversary, the board of directors of the local affiliate has changed its name from Family Promise of East San Fernando Valley to Family Promise of the Verdugos.

The organization’s mission is to help children and families who are homeless regain their sustainable independence.

The board believes the new name reflects more accurately the service areas including Glendale, Burbank, North Hollywood and Eagle Rock.

The name change coincides with the recent opening of a second case management office at 134 N. Kenwood St., Glendale. Kimberly Rhodes is executive director of the local affiliate, which is celebrating its fourth year.

Burbank Mayor Emily Gabel-Luddy declared the week of Oct. 20 through 27 as Family Promise Week in Burbank and presented a proclamation to officials during the Volunteer Appreciation Tea on Oct. 20 at Temple Sinai of Glendale. Also attending were Burbank Councilman Bob Frutos and former Burbank council member Marsha Ramos.
