Community: Van Bloem Singers are recruiting

Whenever I hear a Broadway song, I think of my favorite volunteer, Elaine Paonessa. She is musical director of the Van Bloem Singers, a group that does more than 30 shows a year at service clubs, volunteer organizations, church groups, senior residences and healthcare facilities.

I saw them entertain at a local rehabilitation facility and I can assure you they left the patients smiling.

The group is seeking new members. If you love to sing Broadway and popular tunes, and are available to perform between noon and 3 p.m. weekdays and occasional weekends, give Paonessa a call at (818) 845-6851.

Rehearsals are from 7 to 9 p.m. each Monday in the chapel of the Burbank Salvation Army, 300 E. Angeleno Ave.
