Burbank area events: Creative arts center to host instructors exhibit gallery

The “Instructors Exhibit” will be on display through to Jan. 30 at the Betsy Lueke Creative Arts Center, 1100 W. Clark Ave., Burbank.

The exhibit showcases artwork by instructors at the center who teach pottery, painting, jewelry-making and weaving.

Doctor to give presentation on depression

A medical presentation about managing depression will be given at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at the Joslyn Adult Center, 1301 W. Olive Ave., Burbank.

This presentation costs $2 without a Burbank senior activity card.

African Violet Society to hold meeting

The Burbank African Violet Society will hold a meeting at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the Little White Chapel, 1711 N. Avon St., Burbank.

Skate park to host BMX event

The BMX Spectacular event will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Valley Skate Park, 1625 N. Valley St., Burbank.

All participants are required to wear a helmet, knee pads and arm pads. They must also be registered and have a waiver on file.

Republican Assembly to hold dinner and presentation

The Glendale Burbank Crescenta Valley Republican Assembly will hold a dinner and presentation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22, at the La Crescenta Women’s Clubhouse, 4004 La Crescenta Ave., La Crescenta.

Along with dinner and a presentation by Jeff Klein, manager for voter education, outreach and management for Los Angeles County, there will be an opportunity to try out L.A. County’s new touch-screen voting machines. Those wanting to attend must RSVP. Individual tickets cost $25, couples’ tickets cost $40 and student tickets cost $10.
