Pet of the week: Mel

Share

Mel is an18-month-old red-and-white American pit bull terrier male. Don’t let Mel’s size intimidate you, he is actually a love bug disguised in a pit bull body. A very strong and energetic dog, he needs owners who have dog experience, appreciate the qualities of larger-breed dogs and are ready to play tug-of-war and to toss the ball around.

Apartment living is not ideal for him and although big, Mel should not become a yard dog. Indoor living with a loving family, access to a yard and plenty of human interaction is on Mel’s wish list. He could use some training and with his eagerness to please, Mel will be a good student. Stop by the Burbank Animal Shelter to meet Mel, ID#A038649, and if you are interested in adopting him, bring along all family members (including other dogs) for the very important meet-and-greet.

The shelter is at 1150 N. Victory Place, Burbank. For more information, call (818) 238-3340. To view all available pets, visit www.thevbas.org. The shelter hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, and closed major holidays. Adoption fees are dogs, $104; cats, $78; and bunnies, $30. Prices include spaying or neutering, vaccinations and microchip.
