Hollywood Burbank Airport tallies another month of passenger growth

Hollywood Burbank Airport reported a 20.6% increase in passengers for September compared to the same month in 2018.

The latest passenger numbers at Hollywood Burbank Airport showed a 20.6% growth in passengers in September, with 518,033 passengers, which was 88,684 more than the same month last year, said Nerissa Sugars, the airport’s director of marketing communications and air service, during a meeting of the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority on Monday.

Southwest Airlines had 349,837 passengers for the month, which was a hike of 43,973 over the previous year.

American Airlines’ flights to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport continue to boost its numbers, as it reported 26,850 passengers in September, 17,512 more than in 2018.

Delta Airlines had 26,574 passengers, an increase of 10,468 compared to last year.

Alaska Airlines had 52,811 passengers for the month, an uptick of 3,247 from the same month the year before.

United Airlines showed little improvement. It reported 30,684 passengers, just 716 more than in 2018.

JetBlue Airways had a flat month, with 18,493 passengers, which was 16 fewer than the same month last year.

Spirit Airlines, the newest air carrier at Hollywood Burbank, reported 12,784 passengers.

Parking revenue also continues to trend upward. Officials said the airport generated about $2.04 million in September, which was about $22,000 more than the previous year.

Hollywood Burbank also received $429,559 from ride-sharing operators for pick-ups and drop-offs for the month.
