Burbank police believe a knock-knock burglary turned into a home invasion robbery on Wednesday after a man in his 70s was forced into his bathroom as two men robbed him of his money.

The incident happened sometime before 6:20 p.m. in the 1100 block of West Palm Avenue after the man had confronted the two strangers who had entered his home through an unlocked backdoor. The man told police one of the men had been knocking on his front door moments prior to the confrontation, but he didn’t respond.

Sgt. Derek Green, a Burbank Police Department spokesman, said the duo subsequently forced the man into the bathroom as they stole money from his home. The man received minor injuries while struggling with the robbers.

Green said only cash was stolen from the home, and it is unclear how much.

He also said it’s unknown if the man was specifically targeted. The robbers are described as being men in their 30s.
