A dog was found dead on Saturday after a fire consumed a Burbank home.

The fire was first reported sometime before 11:30 a.m., coming from a home in the 1300 block of North Brighton Street, according to a statement from the Burbank Fire Department. By the time firefighters arrived on scene the flames had grown to the point where neighboring homes were at risk of catching fire as well.

Battalion Chief Mark Hatch said 22 firefighters responded to the incident, and the flames were extinguished around noon. Although no other homes caught fire, a neighboring residence experienced smoke damage, according to Hatch.

Except for the dog found deceased at the scene, no other injuries were reported in the incident. The home’s residents were not inside at the time.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
