A big rig that hit a trailer on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway at Scott Road early this morning caused temporary freeway closures.
At approximately 3:57 a.m., the California Highway Patrol received a call about a disabled trailer blocking lanes on the northbound freeway south of Buena Vista Street. About ten minutes later, the driver of a big rig traveling northbound in the No. 3 lane hit the disabled trailer, colliding with the raised concrete center divider and blocking the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes of the northbound freeway, according to a CHP report.
The force of the collision pushed the center divider into the No. 1 lane of southbound traffic.
Due to the extent of damage to the center divider, a SigAlert was issued for traffic lanes on both sides of the freeway for approximately 4 hours.
No injuries were reported in the collision.
The roadways were cleared at about 7:07 a.m.
