Famous cars, exotic vehicles and hot rods will fill four blocks of downtown Burbank this weekend for the fourth annual Downtown Burbank Car Classic, which will also feature music, chalk artists and vendors.
Vehicles from the Petersen Automotive Museum, the Television Motion Picture Car Club and West Coast Customs will be on display from 3 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, along with restored and pre-1974 cars on San Fernando Boulevard between Magnolia Boulevard and Angeleno Avenue.
The event is free and open to the public.
The “celebrity vehicles” at the event’s Red Carpet Expo, between Olive and Angeleno avenues, will include the 1999 Mach 5 Speed Racer Prototype from the 2008 film “Speed Racer,” as well as the 2001 Honda S2000 from “2 Fast 2 Furious,” and the 1998 Volkswagen New Beetle “Shagmobile” from the movie “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.”
Drag racer and actor Tommy Ivo of Burbank, a 2005 inductee into the Motorsports Hall of Fame of America, will be presented a lifetime achievement award for his work as a showman, automotive enthusiast and drag racer — the first to pilot a dragster at speeds in excess of 180 mph.
KCRW disc jockey Gary Calamar will be on the main stage on Orange Grove Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. and the dance band PartyQuake will perform from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
A preview party for the event will be held at Bob’s Big Boy, 4211 W. Riverside Drive, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday.
