Several promotions were announced last week at the Burbank Police Department, which welcomed three new lieutenants, three sergeants, seven detectives and an officer, as well as a new deputy chief and captain, during a badge-pinning ceremony.
Among those promoted to lieutenant were Adam Cornils, Scott Meadows and Travis Irving, who together have experience on the special-weapons-and-tactics team, as well as in flying helicopters.
Irving will work in support services, which oversees the records bureau, the animal shelter, the jail and property and evidence, while Meadows and Cornils are slated to work in patrol.
The three new sergeants include Jeff Barcus, Aaron Kendrick and Martha Jimenez.
Barcus received a police medal in 2005 for his response to a burglary in progress and subsequent confrontation with an armed suspect.
Kendrick earned a police medal in 2008 for his response to an active-shooter situation that claimed the lives of three people, including the shooter, the year before. Most recently, he’s developed an expertise decoding cellphones while working in the high-tech crimes unit.
Jimenez, meanwhile, has experience working undercover and has worked in the vice/narcotics detail.
“She’s somebody who can do everything,” said Burbank Police Capt. Denis Cremins.
Deputy Chief Mike Albanese and Capt. Armen Dermenjian were also recognized for their recent promotions.
The following officers were promoted to be detectives: Andrey Starkov, Gevork Mirakyan, Aaron Kay, Stephen Santiago, Marc Zimmerman, Brittany Henneberque and Cameron Mencuri.
