Hostage situation resolved peacefully in Burbank

A hostage situation was resolved without injuries Saturday morning with the suspect arrested in Burbank less than two hours after a woman called police about a home abduction, officials said.

The caller directed police to a home in the 1700 block of N. Rose Street before the call was disconnected, according to a press release.

“Arriving officers were met by several people running from the home,” police said. “They told officers there was a family member inside with firearms, holding additional people against their will.”

A member of the department’s Crisis Negotiation Team was able to reach the suspect inside, later identified as 27-year-old Irving Espinosa-Delgado of Arizona.

“A short time later, the remaining hostages were freed,” the press release said.

About 9 a.m., the suspect walked out of the home unarmed and surrendered to police.

Espinosa-Delgado was arrested and booked on charges of residential burglary, kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon. Other charges were pending, police said.

Detectives were on the scene awaiting a search to continue their investigation.
