A 27-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly robbing an Office Depot in Burbank at knifepoint, police said.

Just before 7 p.m., police were called to the Burbank Town Center store by an employee who reported that the suspect was holding a knife to a manager, a 38-year-old man, and demanding money, said Burbank Police Sgt. Adam Cornils.

The man, later identified as Jesus Abaunza, had reportedly moved the manager between cash registers inside the store, and eventually made off with more than $500 from two cash registers.

When police arrived, they reportedly noticed Abaunza, who matched the suspect’s description, running away from the area.

After officers detained Abaunza, believed to be a transient, they discovered he was in possession of a knife, as well as an Office Depot bag with money inside.

No injuries were reported.

He was arrested on suspicion of robbery and kidnapping, and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.
