Authorities are searching for a man suspected of stabbing another person in the neck on Tuesday at the downtown Burbank Metrolink station.

The Burbank Police Department arrived at the station off of Front Street and Olive Avenue at around 4:45 p.m. Officers found a 51-year-old man with a single stab wound to his neck.

Sgt. Derek Green, a department spokesman, said it’s unknown what exactly sparked the incident, but detectives believe it started as some kind of altercation. It’s also unknown if the two men even knew each other prior to the stabbing.

“It does sound like both the victim and suspect are possibly transient,” he said. “Beyond that, the suspect is still outstanding, and we’re trying to identify him.”

Green said the suspect is described as a black man between 50 and 60 years old.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to survive.

The incident remains under investigation.
