Shortly into the new year, a motorcyclist was involved in a crash in Burbank where alcohol appears to have been a factor, according to authorities.

The incident occurred just after midnight on Monday when witnesses saw a motorcycle speeding down the street near Riverside Drive and Mariposa Street, according to Sgt. Derek Green, a spokesperson for the Burbank Police Department. The rider soon lost control and crashed his bike, he added.

The rider was wearing a helmet and wasn’t seriously injured, according to Green.

The crash wasn’t the only alleged alcohol-related incident in the city during the holiday weekend.

Between Friday and Monday, the department made five arrests on suspicion of driving under the influence and seven on suspicion of public drunkenness. Another collision also occurred in the city where drugs or alcohol were considered to be a factor, according to Green.
