Here’s how Measure S funds were used in March

The following is an overview of the status of projects that were underway during March in the Burbank Unified School District using Measure S funds:

The district has received several bids for construction of new modular classroom buildings at Harte, Jefferson and Stevenson elementary schools and is in the process of rebidding the demolition work for the projects. Bids are scheduled to go before school board for consideration. The “21st century classrooms” at Harte Elementary are substantially complete as is teacher training.

A fencing project at Jefferson Elementary is scheduled to be completed this month.

The bids for painting projects at Luther and Muir middle schools were received last month, and they are expected to go before the school board for consideration this month.

A job walk was conducted for the intermural-field upgrade at Burbank High School. Bids for the work were due earlier this month. Planning for “21st century classrooms” is ongoing.

Installation of a fire-alarm system, clocks, speakers, lighting fixtures, flooring and a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system at Mann Child Development Center continues. Also, preparation and installation of drywall continues.

Network infrastructure work is substantially complete at Muir Middle School, and a contractor is working through a final list of work that still needs to be done.

Bids for construction of new “ball walls” on the playgrounds at Emerson and Roosevelt elementary schools were received last month, and the school board has approved their installation.

Several sets of design documents are ready to be submitted to the Division of State Architect for projects at Disney, Edison, McKinley, Roosevelt, Stevenson and Washington elementary schools. The remainder of the second phase of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system-replacement projects, master clocks and energy-management systems at those schools are being prepared for submission.

Structured cabling is complete at Washington and Miller elementary schools, and the district has ordered the rack equipment.

Network infrastructure work is substantially complete at Luther and Muir middle schools, and the contractor is working on a final list of work that still needs to be done.

A new network infrastructure and “21st century classrooms” are in the planning phases at Disney, McKinley, and Providencia elementary schools and Jordan Middle School.

The data center in the District Service Center is substantially complete. It’s expected to be finished this month.
