Trash can on front porch catches fire, spreads to home

A Burbank home caught fire on Sunday after the blaze initially began in a trash can on the front porch and spread to the home’s attic, according to fire officials.

The blaze was first reported at about 4:05 p.m. in the 200 block of South Orchard Drive.

Battalion Chief John Owings, a spokesman for the Burbank Fire Department, said the blaze in the single-story home was extinguished by 4:31 p.m.

It’s unknown what caused the fire, and the incident remains under investigation.
