A 52-year-old man was hospitalized on Thursday in Burbank after being struck by a passing vehicle.

The man was using a wheeled walker in a marked crosswalk in the 1100 block of West Alameda Avenue around 5 p.m. when the incident occurred. Sgt. Derek Green, a spokesman for the Burbank Police Department, said the man was traveling northbound when a Toyota Corolla going east on Alameda drove through the intersection and hit him.

He said the car was legally driven through the intersection on a green light, according to a preliminary report based on witness statements gathered at the scene. The driver stopped his vehicle, helped render aid to the man and was cooperative with authorities, according to Green.

The pedestrian suffered a head injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

It’s believed neither drugs nor alcohol played a role in the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
