Suspected drunk driver hits 7-year-old boy

A 7-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday after he was struck by a suspected drunk driver while riding his bike in Burbank, police said.

The driver, identified as 67-year-old Daniel Fajardo of North Hollywood, was driving in the area of Magnolia Boulevard and Lima Street around 2 p.m. when he allegedly struck the boy with his car while intoxicated, said Burbank Police Officer Cindy Guillen.

The boy was reportedly in stable condition and is expected to fully recover, though the extent of his injuries were not immediately available.

Fajardo was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, causing an injury. He is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and is due in court this week.
