Two arrested for surveillance camera theft
Two men were arrested Friday after police observed them walking down Chandler Boulevard pushing a shopping cart filled with what appeared to be eight stolen surveillance cameras, police said.
At around 2:10 p.m., police saw the men — Thomas and Sean Finnegan, 46 and 47, respectively — pushing a Walmart cart on the street filled with the new, boxed cameras, each valued between $560 and $700, said Burbank Police Lt. Matthew Ferguson.
Police did not know if or how the two were related.
When officers went to arrest Thomas Finnegan, who initially falsely identified himself, he ran, leading the officer on a foot chase, Ferguson said. During the chase, Thomas Finnegan reportedly ripped a wooden plank off a nearby fence and threw it at the officer, he added.
After stopping Thomas Finnegan, police discovered a $100,000 warrant for his arrest for allegedly receiving stolen property and committing grand theft auto.
He was booked for the outstanding warrants and on suspicion of receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and falsely identifying himself.
Sean Finnegan was arrested on suspicion of receiving stolen property.
