Council extends Measure One provision

CIVIC CENTER -- Burbank won’t see an explosion in new apartments any
time soon.
The City Council on Tuesday extended the provision of a 1989
slow-growth ballot measure that requires public approval of any annual
increase in multi-unit dwellings. The council unanimously approved the
Measure One provision.
Several other provisions of Measure One, approved by 74% of the
voters, have already been permanently written into the the city’s
Municipal Code. The public approval provision was set to expire Jan. 1.
The City Council voted Sept. 14 to keep the measure in tact. On
Tuesday, the council formally approved writing the provision into the
code.
