Local firefighters give $1,000 to Massachusetts memorial fund
BURBANK -- The Burbank firefighters’ union has contributed $1,000 to a
fund set up for the families of six firefighters who died in a Worcester,
Mass., warehouse fire, the union’s president said.
Burbank Fire Fighters Local 778 approved the donation at its monthly
meeting on Dec. 7, officials said.
The Massachusetts firefighters died the night of Dec. 3 while
searching an abandoned warehouse for homeless people they believed were
inside the burning structure, the Los Angeles Times reported. A homeless
couple suspected of starting the fire has pleaded not guilty to
involuntary manslaughter.
Those interested in contributing to the fund can send checks payable
to Firefighters’ Memorial Fund to Worcester Credit Union, 2 Eastern Ave.,
Worcester, Mass. 01605.
