Alleged cockroach infestation closes taco stand
SOUTH SAN FERNANDO DISTRICT -- The county health department closed a
San Fernando Boulevard taco stand for a week because of an insect
infestation, a health official said.
Pipiripau Taco, at 412 S. San Fernando Blvd., was closed on Nov. 22.
after a health inspector found live cockroaches on walls, cabinets and
throughout the cooking area, said health department spokesman Paul
Husson.
The restaurant allegedly also had flies in the cooking area and
several other minor violations -- including a broken thermometer in the
refrigerator and holes and gaps throughout the structure.
On Nov. 24, the health department returned to the stand for a
follow-up check and again found live cockroaches in the building,
officials said.
Pipiripau was allowed to reopen with a department grade of “C” on Nov.
