OBITUARY
DAVID MICHAEL ZAPPIA
David Michael Zappia, 56, died Dec. 20, 1999, in Burbank.
Mr. Zappia was born in Endicott, N.Y. He lived in Burbank for 56
years.
He is survived by his father, Mike, of Burbank; sister, Kathleen Lew
and her husband, Ron; and two nieces, Gia and Angela.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at San Fernando
Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills.
CHARLES PALMA
Charles Palma, 89, died Dec. 18, 1999, in Burbank.
Mr. Palma was born in Buffalo, N.Y. He was a Burbank resident for 51
years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked as a liquor salesman for Sterling Distributors and also had
a bread sales route. After retiring from Sterling, he worked at Standard
Brands in Burbank.
Mr. Palma is survived by his wife, Rose, of Burbank.
A private service and interment will be held in Buffalo.
Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service is handling arrangements.
MARY ROSE SPANG
Mary Rose Spang, 85, died Dec. 19, 1999, in Glendale.
Mrs. Spang was born in Corona, Long Island, N.Y.. She was a Burbank
resident for 40 years. She retired from the Screen Extras Guild after
working there for 50 years.
She was a founding board member of Haven House Domestic Violence
Shelter.
Mrs. Spang is survived by her son, Michael; daughters, Mary Lou
Basile-Traylor, Sherry Chomicki and Diana French; brother, John McAdam;
sisters, Dorothy Ciari, Alice Radice, of Burbank, and Emily Murphy, of
Burbank; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild.
Visitation was held Dec. 23 at at Eckerman-Heisman Funeral Service
followed by a graveside service at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
FRANCES LOUISE GINTHER
Frances Louise Ginther, 88, died Dec. 21, 1999, in Burbank.
Mrs. Ginther was born in East Chicago, Ind. She was a Burbank resident
for 37 years. She was retired from Newberry’s.
She is survived by her son, John; four grandchildren; 10
great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass was held Dec. 23 at St. Finbar Catholic Church followed
by interment at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
