Julie Byer and Daniel Gray were married at the Neighborhood Church in
Palos Verdes. The Rev. Donald Barnes officiated.
The matron of honor was Kim Corpuz, the bride’s sister. The
bridesmaids were the groom’s sisters Victoria Collier and Teresa Collier,
the bride’s sister-in-law Denise Byer, Maria Barrios and Denyelle
Dioguardi.
The best man was Brent Overfelt. The groomsmen were the bride’s
brothers Todd Byer and Jeff Byer, David La Roche, Brian Porter and Tim
Weir.
A reception followed at La Venta Inn in Palos Verdes. The couple
honeymooned in Maui and Weilea and are living in Manhattan Beach.
The bride is the daughter of Valerie and John Byer of Glendale.
She graduated from Glendale High School and from UC Santa Barbara and
Cal State Northridge with degrees in Spanish and speech therapy. She is
employed with the Glendale Unified School District. teaching at Edison
and Dunsmore elementary schools. She is a member of the California Speech
and Hearing Assn.
The groom is the son of Kathleen Belt of Laguna Beach.
He graduated from Glendale High School and Westmont College with a
bachelor’s degree in business and economics. He works at Gores Technology
Group.
SCROGGINS -- PETERSEN
Carrie Scroggins and Jason Petersen of La Crescenta were married at
First United Methodist Church of Glendale. The Rev. Alan Strout
officiated.
The couple met at Crescenta Valley High School in 1993. Friends from
the Alumni Choir of CVHS participated in the ceremony. Margie Hagen sung
a solo and a duet with Hal Lewis. The maid of honor was Amber Smith.
The bridesmaids were the bride’s sisters Cassie Scroggins and Cheri
Scroggins, Stacy Flicek and the groom’s sister Sarah Petersen. The junior
bridesmaid was the bride’s niece Candace Wurl and the flowergirl was
Lindsey Moreash.
The best man was Mike Orozco. The groomsmen were the groom’s brothers
Matt Petersen and Nick Petersen, Jason Payne, Jay Laughrey and Charles
Jay Sealander. The ringbearer was Easton Sealander.
A reception followed at The Holiday Inn in Pasadena. More than 200
guests attended from Northern California, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah.
The couple honeymooned on a 16-day cruise to the Panama Canal. They
will make their home in La Crescenta.
The bride is the daughter of Cindy and Carl Scroggins of La Crescenta.
She attended Glendale Community College and transferred to UC Santa
Barbara where she graduated with honors in 1998, receiving a bachelor’s
degree in sociology. She is employed as a human resources coordinator at
the go.com network at Disney.
The groom is the son of Debbie and Randy Petersen of Tujunga.
He graduated from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
Apprenticeship Program in 1996. He is employed as an electrician
(foreman) at Sasco Electric.
