MEDIA DISTRICT NORTH -- Burbank High School Principal John Hutak is

leaving after one year as principal.

Hutak, who resigned Monday, decided to leave the district, said

Burbank Unified Assistant Supt. Gregory Bowman. Hutak, an Antelope Valley

resident, has worked for district since 1998.

“There was no disagreement with the district. He just wanted to work

closer to home. The commute was too much for him,” Bowman said.

Bowman said Hutak has been offered employment closer to where he

lives, but he could not say where. Hutak will officially leave his

position at Burbank on June 30, he said.

Hutak, who could not be reached for comment, began his stint at

Burbank High School at the beginning of the 1999-2000 school year. He

replaced Ron Lipari, who left in June 1999 after three years with the

district.

Prior to taking the job at Burbank High, Hutak was principal of

Monterey High School.

“We wish him well. He’s been a great principal...always open to

students and parents,” Bowman said.
