BURBANK -- Two men in two days were arrested on suspicion of
kidnapping the women in their lives.
Tibor Rudas, 45, of Burbank and a 37-year-old North Hollywood man,
whose name was not released, had a few things in common. Police said both
men were verbally abusive, both men took their respective girlfriends on
a frightening car ride and both trips ended in violence.
Police said they received a call from the sister of the woman Rudas
allegedly kidnapped. The woman had called her sister from her house in
the 800 block of East Orange Grove.
“Police were notified that the victim was at this residence and
possibly drugged and was fearful for her life,” Police Lt. Robert Giles
said.
When the woman did not answer her door, the police forced their way
into the house. At that point, Rudas drove by in his 2000 white Chevrolet
Malibu and spotted the police cars, Giles said. He raced off and a short
pursuit ensued.
The police chased Rudas from Magnolia Boulevard and 7th Street to
Kenneth Road and Palm Avenue and back to Orange Grove. At one point, the
woman was thrown from the car, Giles said.
The woman suffered scratches, redness and pain to her lower back, neck
and elbows, Giles said.
The North Hollywood man also took his girlfriend for a ride, although
this one was took the couple through Burbank, Glendale and North
Hollywood.
After meeting his girlfriend for drinks at Gradys, a bar in the 4100
block of Magnolia Boulevard, the man caught a ride home with her and her
two grown daughters, police said.
That is when the situation went terribly wrong.
The man became verbally abusive and both the mother and her daughters
chose to leave the car, police said. The man grabbed the woman and drove
away.
At one point, the woman tried to escape the car and when the man
dragged her back, he pulled off part of her clothing and attempted to
have sex with her, Giles said.
The man was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.
