Students’ artwork in running for 2001 calendar

BURBANK -- Posters created by nine Burbank middle school students on
the theme water use in the 21st century will be considered for a
Metropolitan Water District of Southern California 2001 Calendar.
The nine students, three from each of Burbank’s public middle schools,
were winners in the local “Water is Life” contest. Their artwork was
submitted to the calendar competition, said Pat Rude, a conservation
advisor with the city of Burbank.
A video featuring the art will be sold for $15, with the proceeds
going toward Burbank middle school art programs, Rude said. The video is
also being shown on Burbank public access, Charter Cable Channel 6, three
times a day for the next five weeks.
From John Muir Middle School the winners were Michael Nalbandian,
Brittany Clemens and Emily Hine. David Starr Jordan Middle School winners
were Juan Garcia, Stephanie Zepeda and Benji Baker and Luther Burbank
Middle School winners were Tiffany Colon, Bailey Portera and Victor
Garcia.
