MARY RITCHE BOYD
Mary Ritchie Boyd, born in 1924, died Sept. 30, 2000, in Burbank.
Ms. Ritchie was born in Montreal and spent her childhood in Vancouver.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Dale, Cathy
and Mark and Janice and Steve; sons and daughters-in-law David and Joyce
and Ritchie and Karin; brother Jack; sister Anabel; sisters-in-law Fan
and Win; grandchildren Chris, Greg, John, Maggie and Cayley; and many
nieces and nephews.
Her ashes will be scattered at Keates Island, near Vancouver. Her
family will gather in Burbank on Thanksgiving to celebrate her life.
ETHELYN H. ZAPF Ethelyn H. Zapf, 87, died Sept. 30, 2000, in
Glendale.
Ms. Zapf was born in Hastings, Neb. She owned and operated California
Cleaners’ Equipment and Supplies in Burbank since the early 1940s. She
was a member of Moose Lodge No. 641 Auxiliary and was actively involved
with Disabled American Veterans.
She is survived by 10 nieces and nephews and their families.
Services were held Thursday at Valhalla Memorial Park and Mortuary.
Interment followed. Pierce Brothers Valhalla Mortuary was in charge of
arrangements.
CESARIO T. ALCAUSE
Cesario T. Alcause, 68, died Oct. 2, 2000, in Burbank.
Mr. Alcause was born in the Philippines. He lived in Burbank for four
years. He was a farmer for 45 years.
He is survived by his wife, Consuelo.
Visitation and services were held Thursday at Valley Funeral Home.
MARY CAREY
Mary Carey, died Oct. 2, 2000, in Las Vegas.
Ms. Carey was born in Canada. She lived in Burbank for 40 years. She
was a homemaker.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Estrella; son Paul; sisters
Christine Mitchell and Anna Libby; and grandsons Louis and Brian
Estrella.
Services were held Friday at St. Finbar Catholic Church. Valley
Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
DONALD EUGENE LASH
Donald Eugene Lash, 82, died Sept. 28, 2000, in Medford, Ore.
Mr. Lash was born in Lincoln, Neb. He was a Burbank resident for 25
years. He worked as a lithographer at Hemphill District School, North
America School and for the Metropolitan Water District. He served three
years with the Army Air Corps during World War II.
He is survived by his wife; son and daughter-in-law Frank and Mary
Lash; granddaughter Michelle Schwartz and her husband, Richard; and
great-grandson Steven Andrew Schwartz.
A viewing and services were held Friday. Arrangements were handled by
Conger-Morris Funeral Directors of Medford, Ore.
ARTHUR WILSON SHUMAN
Arthur Wilson Shuman, 87, died Oct. 3, 2000, in the San Gabriel
Valley.
Mr. Shuman was born in Verona, Wis. He was employed by Lockheed
International in Burbank and Geneva. More recently, he was the CFO of the
Episcopal Homes in Alhambra and Palos Verdes.
He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Marjorie; daughters,
Jacqueline Dwight and Marilyn Barnett; grandchildren, Thomas, Gregory and
Andrew Dwight, and Christopher Barnett.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Church of Our Saviour, 535
W. Roses Road, San Gabriel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests
donations to Our Saviour Center, 4368 Santa Anita Ave., El Monte, 91731,
attention Dorris Dawn.
