BURBANK -- Three men, including a man shot through the chest, were
released from custody Wednesday after being booked Friday on suspicion of
attempted murder following an alleged shootout, police said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials said Artur
Margaryan, 27, of Glendale; Arthur Karagezyan, 24, of Burbank; and Artur
Hartunyan, 34, of La Crescenta, were released Wednesday due to
insufficient evidence.
Deputy Dist. Atty. Lonnie A. Felker said the district attorney’s
office was not ready to file charges against the men.
“At this point, we rejected it for further investigation,” Felker
said.
All three men were arrested Friday after an alleged exchange of
gunfire left Hartunyan in serious condition at Los Angeles County-USC
Medical Center, police said.
Sheriff’s Department officials said Hartunyan was transferred to the
Los Angeles County jail Monday, but officials would not release any
information about his medical condition.
Police were continuing to investigate the incident that began in the
400 block of South Glenoaks Boulevard Friday evening. Police said they
received a report of numerous gunshots by frightened witnesses.
Officers chased a dark blue 2000 Mercedes Benz for a short block. One
of the men in the car jumped out and called to police that his friend was
shot, police said.
