Chamber Music Society
performs spring concert
LA CRESCENTA -- The Crescenta Valley Chamber Music Society will
present a free early spring chamber music concert at 7 p.m. Sunday at La
Crescenta Presbyterian Church, 2902 Montrose Ave., La Crescenta.
The concert features Beethoven’s serenade for string trio, the Reger
trio for violin, viola and flute and variations for cello and piano by
Beethoven.
Donations will be accepted and are earmarked for the church piano
fund.
Performers will be David Garrett, cello, Mitchel Newman, violin, and
John Hayhurst, viola, all members of the Los Angeles Philharmonic
Orchestra. Also featured are Karen Hayhurst on flute and Junko Ueno
Garrett on piano.
Tango Dreams sizzles
at The Alex this week
GLENDALE -- Fernanda Ghi and Guillermo Merlo, partners in life as well
as on the dance floor, lead the performance of “Tango Dreams,” continuing
a series of shows this week at The Alex Theatre in Glendale.
The couple uses the steps of tango, waltz and malorga dances to
express the emotions behind a variety of characters and relationships.
Choreography is by Ghi, Merlo and Yanco Inone. Musical arrangements
are by Christian Zarate, with vocal accompaniment by Martin de Leon. The
show is produced by Anne Charmillot and Tango Dreams Dance Co. Inc.
Show times are 8 tonight, Friday and Saturday, and 2 and 7 p.m.
Sunday.
