Gun ruling not an issue here

CIVIC CENTER -- Burbank City Atty. Dennis Barlow said that a recent
California Supreme Court ruling, paving the way for gun manufacturers not
to be held liable on the basis that the risk of injury of a gun outweighs
its benefits, will not affect Burbank.
Barlow said the decision won’t be an issue here, because the city
rarely files claims against gun manufacturers.
On Monday, the California Supreme Court found that the gun
manufacturer couldn’t be held liable in a July 1993 shooting in San
Francisco, in which gunman Gian Luigi used a TEC-DC9, a semiautomatic
assault weapon.
