Wedding
GALLARDO -- SWITZER
Leah Helen Gallardo, the daughter of the Rev. Dr. Sylvester Gallardo
and the late Ana Maria Gallardo of North Hollywood, was married to
Gregory Switzer, the son of Theodore and Patricia Switzer of Burbank.
The marriage ceremony took place at Magnolia Park United Methodist
Church in Burbank. The Rev. John Valles and the bride’s father
officiated.
The theme of the wedding was “Thy Word is a Lamp Unto My Feet” and
exemplified the couple’s longtime involvement in Bible study groups and
mission projects to the homeless.
The reception was highlighted by a special serenade from the bride to
the groom and a memorable skit by the groom’s family. Marjorie Tayloe, a
close friend of the bride, also played the harp and a string quartet
played the favorite music of the bride and groom.
The bride was attended by her maid of honor Reneen Brouchet and matron
of honor Jacqlyn McLeod, the sister of the groom. Bridesmaids were Ann
Switzer and Christian Tuufavia. Ring bearers were Christian and Thomas
Switzer, nephews of the groom. The flower girl was Celine Flores, cousin
of the bride.
The best man was Mark Matta, a longtime friend of the groom. The
ushers were Paul Bonner, Philip McLeod, brother-in-law of the groom, and
his brother, John Switzer.
The bride is a graduate of Cal State Los Angeles with a master’s of
arts degree in anthropology and master’s of arts degree from USC in
journalism. She is the director of the United Methodist California
Pacific Annual Conference Media Center in Pasadena. She also produces
videos and last year won a national award from the United Methodist Assn.
of Communicators.
The groom attended USC as well as CSUN and the United States
International University and earned his degree in mathematics and a
master’s degree in computer education. He is a teacher and coach at
Hoover High School. He also coached at John Burroughs High School where
he graduated in 1996. He was also named educator of the year by the
Glendale Lions Club.
The couple honeymooned in Cambria and Solvang and are living in
Burbank.
