BURBANK -- A 34-year-old Burbank security guard suffered irritation to
the mouth after two men allegedly hurled a liquid, which may have been
transmission fluid, at him at a recycling center.
The guard noticed two men in a white van approach the center at 1:25
a.m. Tuesday at 500 S. Flower St. They got out and began unloading a box
of used oil, Burbank Police Sgt. Bill Taylor said.
The men picked up the oil and put it back in the van after the guard
advised them there were no drop-offs, Taylor said.
The men then started unloading a large refrigerator from the van when
one of them allegedly threw a coffee can full of liquid on the guard’s
face and shirt, Taylor said.
The guard thought the liquid was water until his mouth started to
burn, Taylor said.
The men, described by police as two male Hispanics between 30 and 50
years old, drove away.
