It’s just the beginning

NORTHWEST DISTRICT -- When Phil White came to Burbank’s Victory

Tabernacle Church 20 years ago, the 35-member Pentecostal congregation

met in a room the size of a household living room.

“It was the smallest room I had ever preached in,” said White, 46. “My

first objective was to break away from a marginal existence as a church

and expand. I wanted to reach out to many more people.”

This weekend, White will celebrate 20 years of growth, with his now

200-member congregation, with four special services held in his honor.

The four-day celebration will include services in English and in

Spanish led by guest clergymen. English services will be at 10:30 a.m.

and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, and at 7:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The 6:30 p.m.

Sunday service will feature Spanish translation.

Services will be delivered completely in Spanish at 7:30 p.m.

Wednesday. All services will take place at Victory Tabernacle Church,

1614 W. Victory Blvd. in Burbank.

White said it’s typically a milestone of celebration that a pastor and

congregation have worked together for this amount of time. A typical

length of service might be about four years, according to White.

In his 20 years with Victory Tabernacle, White’s evangelism efforts

have led to the creation of four new area churches.

“We are excited about this. We have seen a continued growth rate and

more families added to the kingdom of God.”
