BURBANK -- A local martial arts school has donated $17,202 to the
Burbank Fire Department so the department, in turn, can donate the money
to the Fire Department City of New York.
Students at Ken Nagayama Martial Arts schools in Granada Hills and
Burbank held a tournament and kickathon Nov. 18 at Bellarmine-Jefferson
High School.
More than 200 participants raised $17,202. They presented a check to
members of the Burbank department on Tuesday, said Kimberly Moulton,
chief instructor at the school.
The tournament raised money by virtue of entry fees, but the kickathon
raised money per kick. One student did 400 kicks, Moultan said.
