DOUGLAS “DOUGIE” JOHN SWEET
Douglas “Dougie” John Sweet, 31, died Jan. 27, 2002, in Burbank.
Mr. Sweet was born Aug. 26, 1970, in Santa Monica. He was a resident
of Burbank for 23 years.
Mr. Sweet was a manager at VSP Parking in Burbank for nine years, and
was owner/operator of Burbank-based Sweetwater Pools.
He enjoyed surfing, wakeboarding, golf, basketball and camping.
Mr. Sweet is survived by his parents, Joan and Doug Carter; fiancee
Christie Beebe; brothers Derek Sweet and Dean Carter; sisters Erica Sweet
Watkins and Dee Berger; niece Abby Sweet; and nephews Ryan Berger, Dylan
Sweet, Kyle Watkins and Darian Carter.
Funeral services are at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Old North Church,
Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.

JEROME CONIGLIO
Jerome Coniglio, 85, died Jan. 22, 2002, in Escondido.
Mr. Coniglio was born Sept. 22, 1916, in Los Angeles. He was a former
resident of Burbank.
Mr. Coniglio was a Schlitz Brewery forklift driver for 30 years before
his retirement in 1979.
He enjoyed working on cars, riding motorcycles, traveling, and playing
pool at the Joslyn Adult Center.
Mr. Coniglio is survived by his sisters, Pauline Mancino and Agatha
Coniglio; nieces Lucille Pattatucci, Bernadette Heusser, Mary Mancino,
Teresa Bittman, Nancy Noon, Janice Mancino and Annette Mehrtens; nephews
Richard Mancino, Michael Mancino and Paul Mancino; and numerous cousins
and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral Mass was Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Escondido.
Interment followed at Oakhill Memorial Park in Escondido.
SIGURDUR EDWIN KJARTANSON
Sigurdur Edwin Kjartanson, 84, died Jan. 25, 2002, in Burbank.
Mr. Kjartanson was born Nov. 30, 1917, in Amaranth, Canada. He was a
Burbank resident for 39 years.
Mr. Kjartanson was self-employed in sales and was a general
contractor.
He is survived by his daughters, Mona Dawn Ward, Darlene Kjartanson
Upshaw and Sheri Kjartanson; son Don Kjartanson; grandchildren
Christopher, Robert, Jennifer, James, Katy, Jessica, Lauren, Molly and
Kristin; sister Bertha Isfeld and brother Steve Kjartanson.
Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Robert Bellarmine
Catholic Church, 133 N. 5th St. Burial will follow at San Fernando
Mission Cemetery.
