‘Embrace the Energy’ seminar planned

Woodbury University and the American Business Women’s Assn., Verdugo

Glen Chapter, is offering a program for women to invest in their own

personal education and increase their business and personal skills at the

same time.

Four speakers will share their expertise at the “Embrace the Energy”

seminars from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 13 at the Woodbury University

campus in Burbank. Lunch is included in the registration fee of $49.

The speakers and their topics are Melanie Strick, Life Mastery coach,

“Setting Your Goals and How to Achieve Them;” Phil Black, Productive

Learning and Leisure Co., “Does Your Thinking Limit Your Success?;” Dr.

Karen Kaigler-Walker, chairwoman, Department of Marketing and professor

of Marketing and Psychology, Woodbury University, “Women to Women

Mentoring;” and Karen Hall, sales manager, Weekenders USA, “Dress For

Success.”

Hospice benefits from golf tourney

The 13th annual Hospice Golf Classic tournament will be played April 1

at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club. It benefits the Hospice in the

Home program of VNACare.

Over the years, Countrywide Home Loans has supported this event for

the Visiting Nurse Assn. Hospice in the Home is provided for terminally

ill patients. Care is provided by the nonprofit home health agency,

providing care for the community regardless of the patient’s ability to

pay and whether the patient has insurance coverage. Hospice allows

terminally ill patients to remain at home surrounded by loved ones.

The classic features a day of golf, continental breakfast, lunch,

awards banquet, prize drawings and auctions. The fee per golfer is $250.

This is an official Lexus Champions for Charity vent. Johnny Harrison

of Lexus Glendale said every year the Lexus Champions for Charity invites

a twosome from this tournament to the national championships. Several

years ago, two players form this tournament won $10,000 for VNACare.

Writer speaks to businesswomen

Writer Melinda Thompson is the guest speaker at the Wednesday meeting

of the Verdugo Glen Chapter of the American Business Women’s Assn. at the

Glendale Elks, 120 E. Colorado Blvd.

Networking is at 5:30 p.m. with dinner, a program and business meeting

at 6:30. Dinner cost is $17.

Long-term care subject

for Women’s Civic League

The Women’s Civic League of Glendale will meet at 11:30 a.m. Thursday

at the Elks Lodge, 120 E. Colorado St. in Glendale. Luncheon will be

served at noon.

The program, “Long-Term Care: Crises and Solutions,” will be presented

by Colin Wood, senior long-term care specialist, and Lorne Murdock,

specialist, Concept for Living, both employed by General Electric.

This program support’s the theme for the year, “Women Connecting with

Our Community,” chosen by Civic League President Charlene Carnachan.

She encourages all women in the community to attend this presentation

and added that questions will be answered.

Meetings are open to all civic-minded members of the community. The
