Joyce Rudolph, Weekend

BURBANK -- Kunimi Terada is an artist who paints what she sees and

feels with color and shape.

“The act of looking has always filled me with profound pleasure,” she

said. “I am constantly surprised by what I see -- a landscape, human

body, shapes in the Earth under my feet, piles of autumn leaves, the wind

pushing clouds away from my window frame.

“When I create, the subtleties of color become vividly transformed

when they begin to interact -- what a joyful experience!”

Terada’s work is on display at the Aries Gallery. Her work is

displayed along with gallery owner Fred Wolf and Peggy Nichols.

Wolf’s art emphasizes compositional challenges in figurative

situations.

Nichols, who paints still life paintings in pastels, gains inspiration

from Cezanne, Mary Cassatt and Degas.

Continuing through May 8, the exhibit is by appointment only. The

gallery is at 4222 W. Burbank Blvd. For more information or reservations,

call 846-0611.

ART EXHIBIT

Toluca Lake artist

has solo exhibition

A solo exhibition of new watercolors by Toluca Lake artist Gayle

Garner Roski is continuing through April 21 at the Tirage Gallery, One

West California Blvd., in Pasadena.

A series of dessert paintings was created in preparation for the

artist’s 60th birthday celebration on Sept. 11. She wanted to paint the

passions of her life and decided the best visual descriptions would be

sinful hot fudge sundaes.

But the tragic events of that day compelled the artist to put

frivolity aside. So the beautiful desserts segue to the graphic depiction

of motion and solace following that horrible day.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

Monday through Friday..
