BURBANK -- “Snow White,” a new version of the Grimm Brothers old

classic, is continuing at The Falcon Theatre.

It was adapted by Thorin Alexander with direction by Hope Alexander.

It blends all the story’s favorite characters with a new twist.

Hope has worked from Costa Mesa at the South Coast Repertory Theatre

all the way to Paris, France. She has received multiple DramaLogue and

Critic’s Circle awards.

Playwright Thorin’s credits include dramaturg on “The Last of Mrs.

Lincoln” for director Art Manke at the El Portal Theatre Center and

dramaturgical assistant on “Pericles” for A Noise Within in Glendale.

Tickets are $10 and reservations can be made by calling 955-8101. Show

times are 1 and 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday through June 16. The

Falcon Theatre is at 4252 Riverside Drive.

Car club has Chevy Night

at Bob’s Big Boy

The Road’ers Car Club members will be heading down Glenoaks Boulevard

for their monthly Cruise In car show from 6 to 9 tonight at Bob’s Big

Boy, 1407 W. Glenoaks Blvd., Glendale.

“Chevy Night” is the theme, and the owner of the best Chevy will take

home a special trophy.

In addition, other trophies will be awarded in several categories for

hot rods, muscle cars, special interest vehicles, or classic cars. A DJ

will be playing music, and there will be a raffle and 50/50 cash

drawings.

‘Over the River’ opens

at Centre Theatre

The Broadway comedy, “Over The River And Through The Woods,” opened

this week at Glendale Centre Theatre.

The play was written by Joe DiPietro whom critics are calling the new

Neil Simon, and is the newest play Centre Theatre has produced. It was

introduced in New York in 1998 and ran for two years.

It’s the heartwarming story of how a family will go to outrageous

lengths to keep their grandson from taking a lucrative job in another

state.

Directing this production is George Strattan.

The play continues through May 25. Tickets range from $13 to $16. For

Group’s CD release

party at Club Lush

Moe Jones will have its CD release party for “Cup of Joe” from 7 to 11

p.m. Sunday at Club Lush in Glendale.

Lead singer Michelle Holmes categorizes the group’s music as

Alternative Retro, as its original songs blend elements of rock ‘n’ roll,

jazz, folk and blues.

Also appearing are Sean Wiggins, Kelly’s Lot and Sanaiya.

Colony’s ‘Side Show’

ends this weekend

The Colony Theatre Company announces the final productions of the

Broadway musical “Side Show” at 8 tonight and 2 p.m. Sunday at the

Burbank Center Stage. There will be no more extensions to the show.

It relates the true story of Daisy and Violet Hilton, twins joined at

the hip, who became the toast of the vaudeville circuit during the

Depression. Misty Cotton and Julie Dixon Jackson star as the twins.

The role of Jake will be played by James Black for the performances of

the extension only. Black was most recently seen as Jim in Deaf West’s

award-winning production of “Big River” and in Reprise’s production of

“Hair.”

Tickets range from $25 to $31, and can be reserved by calling

558-7000. The Colony Theatre Company makes its home at the Burbank Center

Improv company supplies laughs with one-act plays

The Really Spontaneous Theatre Company, an improvisational theater

ensemble, is concentrating on improvising one-act plays in the styles of

many playwrights -- David Mamet and Tennessee Williams -- for this run at

the Third Stage theater in Burbank.

Skating is cool fun at Pickwick arena

Pickwick Ice Skating Arena, 1001 Riverside Drive in Burbank, has

public-skating, figure-skating and ice-hockey lessons. It is also

available for private parties.

Public sessions are from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays; 8 to

10 p.m. Saturdays; 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays; and

8:15 to 9:45 p.m. Wednesdays. Admission is $6, $5 for 17 and younger, and

Equestrian center great for horsing around

The Los Angeles Equestrian Center, 480 Riverside Drive in Burbank, has

horse events throughout the year but also rents out the animals from 8

a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Horse rentals are $20 for one hour, $30 for 1 1/2

hours, and $35 for two hours, all with a $15 deposit, cash only. Private

hourlong lessons are $35.

Private parties can take night rides or, for the summer only, sunset

barbecue rides. The sunset rides are also open to the public. To horse

Talk to the animals at the Los Angeles Zoo

The L.A. Zoo is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Admission is $8.25

for adults, $5.25 for seniors 65 and older, $3.25 for kids 2 to 12 and

free for kids younger than 2. Parking is free, and strollers and

wheelchairs are available to rent. The zoo is at 5333 Zoo Drive, Los

Moonlight Rollerway is the place to skate

Moonlight Rollerway in Glendale offers skating for children and adults

throughout the week.

Admission ranges from $4.50 to $6.75. There is a $2 skate-rental fee,

or skaters can bring their own in-line or regular skates.

There is a session for children 12 and younger and their parents from

10 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Public sessions are from 7:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 1:30

to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Adult Disco Night for those 18 and older

is from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Monday. Old-timers Night with live organ music is

from 8 to 10:30 p.m. Tuesdays.

Skaters receive a discount on the public session from 8 to 10:30 p.m.

Wednesdays. Admission is $5, with $2 skate rental. The rink is reserved

for private parties Thursday.

Toluca Lake artist

has solo exhibition

A solo exhibition of new watercolors by Toluca Lake artist Gayle

Garner Roski ends this weekend at the Tirage Gallery, One West California

Blvd., in Pasadena.

A series of dessert paintings was created in preparation for the

artist’s 60th birthday celebration on Sept. 11. She wanted to paint the

passions of her life and decided the best visual descriptions would be

sinful hot fudge sundaes.

But the tragic events of that day compelled the artist to put

frivolity aside. So the beautiful desserts segue to the graphic depiction

of motion and solace following that horrible day.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker and artist Fred Wolf has opened his

second art exhibition at his gallery in Burbank.

The display also shows the works of Kunimi Terada and Peggy Nichols.

Terada’s intention is to create poetic entities in which form and color

become one. Nichols, an award-winning artist, gains inspiration from

Cezanne, Mary Cassatt and Degas.

Wolf’s art emphasizes compositional challenges in figurative

situations.
